    This course will provide clinical experiences necessary for the development of the skills required to be a competent cosmetologist. The allocation of time to the various phases of cosmetology is prescribed by the Florida State Board of Cosmetology. This course includes portions of the hours required for licensing. Topics to be covered include: permanent waving and relaxers, hair color and bleaching, skin, scalp and hair treatments, hair cutting, styling dispensary, manicure/pedicure/nail techniques, reception, safety precautions/decontamination, and Hazardous Duty Standards Act compliance, advanced styling and hair shaping, industry concepts, and exposure to a salon setting.


  • Program Length: 1200 Hours

    Enrollment Point: August, January, June

  • Career Opportunities: Cosmetologist, Nail Technician, Platform Artist, Instructor, Salon Owner or Manager, Color Specialist, Facial, Wax and Brow Specialist, Sales Representative, Makeup Artist, Manufacturer Educator, Special Effects Artist, Blow Dry Specialist, Braid and Wig Stylist.

    Industry Certifications/State Credentials: Prepare to take the Florida State Board of Cosmetology exam.
