Responsible for delegating authority, supervising subordinates in the battalion, maintaining a direct and personal relationship with the staff and the company commanders, ensuring orders and actions are in compliance with JROTC regulations and making operational decisions for the Cougar battalion. Under the supervision of the Army instructors.
Battalion Executive Officer
Responsible for coordinating and supervising the battalion staff to ensure that the orders and policies of the Battalion Commander are carried out effectively and efficiently, arranging meetings with the battalion staff and leadership. Assumes command of the battalion in the absence of the battalion commander. Under the supervision of the battalion commander and Army instructors.
Battalion Command Sergeant Major
Responsible for advising the battalion commander on matters pertaining to the discipline, conduct and morale of the Cougar battalion, supervising flag detail (raising and lowering the flag each day), promotion boards of all enlisted cadets and submitting merits and demerits for all cadets in the cougar battalion. Under the supervision of the battalion commander and Army Instructors.
Battalion Adjutant (S-1)
Responsible for all matters relating to personnel and administration, preparing and publishing awards and promotion orders. Additionally, maintain records/ personal files of all cadets. Under the supervision of the battalion commander and Army instructors.
Battalion Security Officer (S-2)
Responsible for supervising the Cougar battalion’s physical security, conducting monthly serial number inventories and equipment and making necessary on-the-spot corrections resulting from security inspections. Under the supervision of the battalion commander and Army instructors.
Battalion Operations and Training Officer (S-3)
Responsible for weekly training schedules, planning and supervising events such as the Busch Gardens field trip, Bivouac and end of the year banquet. keeps the commander advised on the progress of training within the Cougar battalion. Assumes command of the battalion in the absence of both the battalion commander and XO. Under the supervision of the battalion commander and Army instructors.
Battalion Logistics Officer (S-4)
Responsible for maintaining accountability of all equipment and supplies used by the Cougar Battalion, maintaining the supply room in a neat and orderly fashion at all times, and alerting the Army Instructor if supplies are low. Under the supervision of the battalion commander and Army instructors.
Battalion Public Affairs Officer (S-5)
Responsible for planning and coordinating special projects as outlined by the Cougar battalion commander, cadet battalion XO, or the instructor staff, capturing all JROTC supported events throughout the year for the social media pages (@barronjrotc) and updating the Barron JROTC website. Under the supervision of the battalion commander and instructor Army instructors.
Battalion Technologies Officer (S-6)
Responsible for the management of technology assets in the Cougar Battalion (physical equipment, media storage, digital property, etc) and creating the recycling roasters while observing the yearly progress. Under the supervision of the battalion commander and Army instructors.
